Beautiful Venue with Caring, Professional Staff
“How can I possibly encapsulate into one tiny review all the positive thoughts and feelings I have for this GORGEOUS VENUE and its DEDICATED STAFF that worked so hard to give my daughter and son-in-law the perfect wedding reception? I will just start by saying that as mothers-of-the-bride go, I would fall into the category of those who are highly critical with a clear idea of what they want; however, I am not unrealistic in my expectations especially where budget is a priority. There is no arguing that the Mark Twain Ballroom is a beautiful space, so I won’t go on here about how blown away our guests were when they entered the space or how the exquisite ballroom finishes enhanced every photo taken. Instead, here I will take this opportunity to tell anyone considering this venue for the their own event how awesome the Mark Twain Ballroom staff was in helping me and my daughter create a WONDERFUL, WELL-COORDINATED EVENING for our friends and family. Throughout the venue selection process, I discovered that no venue can give you everything you want, so what is important is to not only choose the venue with the ‘perfect look’ for your affair, but also to choose the venue with THE BEST STAFF TO HELP YOU ACHEIVE YOUR VISION. Dawna and Shilah were simply amazing in their efforts to attend to our every need before and during the event. I seriously could not have pulled it off without them. Those last two weeks leading up to the wedding were very hectic for us. Fortunately I could depend on Dawna and Shilah to help coordinate with outside vendors and take care of all the ‘little things’ that made the difference in everything going as planned. During the event, not only were they on-task and focused to adhering to the schedule of events, but throughout the night they were pleasant to our guests and highly attentive to the needs of our wedding party. Thanks to these ladies and their staff, we were able to relax and enjoy the evening with friends and family. MANY THANKS to The Mark Twain Ballroom for giving us a wedding reception filled with so many memories of joy and laughter!”

After having to change venues last minute, we were lucky enough to find this venue that had our date open! The wedding coordinators are absolutely amazing. They were willing to help us in any way we needed! They went beyond the call of duty to make sure our day was perfect in SO many ways!!! The venue itself is breathtaking! Everyone who attended was just amazed at how beautiful the venue was! It was a true fairytale experience and I could not have asked for a better wedding day!!!!

The Mark Twain Ballroom is a hidden gem in the Mark Twain building downtown. My now husband and I both lived merely blocks away from there for three years and had no idea it existed. When we went to tour the venue we were taken aback by its classic beauty and elegance. The chandeliers, high ceilings, balcony (so fun!), and detailed architecture give it a true ballroom feel. This is also nice because you don’t need to add any fancy decor because the room is already so ornate. We felt like Cinderella and Price Charming on our wedding day, and saved so much time and money not having to make or buy fancy decorations. The gorgeous bridal room was also such an asset as the girls and I had somewhere to go freshen up and put our things.
Perhaps even more impressive than the look and feel of the venue is the property manager, Dawna. We didn’t hire a wedding planner, nor did we need to, because this woman knows how to run a wedding reception better than I could have ever imagined. Before we booked the place, she took my emails and calls so patiently and answered every question. During the planning she coordinated with each of my vendors and guided me through the entire process of how to approach the big day, as well as how to best utilize the space. She allowed us to come in and practice our first dance, and because the room wasn’t booked during the week of the wedding she was happy to have my mother and caterer come throughout the week to set up the tables and centerpieces.
She coordinated all of our meetings and was happy to give her input on anything we needed. Dawna and her sister, who is also an experienced wedding venue manager, hosted several meetings prior to the big day with us, my mother, our bar servers, and the caterer to discuss how everything was going to happen the day-of and design a schedule. We were so impressed with their ability to obviate any potential problems. On our wedding day they took such wonderful care of us. Every 30 minutes one of them asked if we needed anything at all or if any issues needed to be addressed. They had the caterers serve us a plate at our head table so we were guaranteed time to eat and kept us from having to go through the buffet line. They taped cards to each gift so they wouldn’t get lost, dimmed the lights at the perfect times, and worked with our band and caterers to ensure everything was on schedule. They even had a gentleman working the front door to greet guests, ensure our security, and validate parking. They helped my parents and bridal party gather our things at the end of the evening and even let us store our cake in their refrigerator for a few days until it could be picked up.
I can’t say enough good things about Dawna and the Mark Twain ballroom. If you’re wavering because of price, remember that you don’t need fancy centerpieces or even a wedding planner, so this place saves you so much time and money in the long run. Lastly, you can sleep soundly throughout your engagement and focus more on your marriage, knowing your wedding day will be perfect.
